"Pigs are curious and insightful animals thought to have intelligence beyond that of an average 3-year-old human child. They are smarter than dogs and every bit as friendly, loyal, and affectionate. When in their natural surroundings, not on factory farms, they are social, playful, protective animals who bond with each other, make beds, relax in the sun, and cool off in the mud."

If I were not already a strict vegetarian I would be after seeing these videos. Animals can’t speak for themselves. They need our voice...

LOVE ANIMALS, DON'T EAT THEM

"Free Me" Video by Goldfinger
An acoustic walk through the horror of factory farms.

It's been a long time since I've seen this, and heard this song. Ah man, what an effect it has. This video was the final thing that made my mom stop eating meat. I haven't seen all of it, but enough to know how disturbing it is. There's no way anyone could watch this and not feel something. I'm sure I posted this in my journal at some point a long time ago, but this is a new and improved link to the video.

MEET YOUR MEAT

"Meet Your Meat" Narrated by Alec Baldwin
In a moving narration, actor and activist Alec Baldwin exposes the truth behind humanity's cruelest invention –the factory farm.

I couldn't watch this, but I downsized and listened to all of it. Be fair warned, it's disturbing. The few times I looked out of curiosity I cried. Pass this one on.

BOYCOTT THE CIRCUS
Animals do not naturally ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls, or jump through rings of fire. To force them to perform these confusing and physically uncomfortable tricks, trainers use whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks, and other painful tools of the trade. More at circuses.com

Ever wonder how circuses get elephants to perform silly, often dangerous stunts?

Never forgotten.
Shirley and Jenny met in the last place you'd want to be an elephant – the Carson and Barnes circus. But 23 years of separation was unable to destroy the deep bond the two formed.

Every time we sit down to eat we make a choice. Go vegetarian...do it for the animals, do it for the environment, and do it for your health.
